about

Hoping to shine some light on whats been a dark year for so many. Heres to brighter days. An ode to Dublin City.

lyrics

Dublin City Lights flicker from afar, I don’t know you but I know who ya are.
You’re in me heart, somewhere, I can feel ya.
Freezing cold, the sky is bold, the wonderment of Dún Laoghaire,
I can see it so Cleary.
The boats in Howth, standing in Clontarf, this triangle of beauty, as the sea sails smoothly.
The sky is 5 different colours, the whole world and its mother can’t see this, for my eyes only, I’m cold and so lonely but feel like we’re all together, day or night
Under these Dublin City lights.

From the York street flats to O'Devaney Gardens, where they say what not pardon. Get outta the garden with yer bleeding jargon.
Gangsters, ropsters, posh boys, posers.
Torn gig posters, the Camden street caners, the Talbot Street no brainers, but we’re all the same sure.
I feel like I’ll always remember this morning. End of the night for some but I just came to watch the sun.
Watch it rise, watch it ride, the sky, sun flickers, it’s so bitter, day or night Under these Dublin City lights.

CHORUS:

Dublin City lights, Dublin City lights
Dublin City Lights
Lighting up our skies with these
Dublin City lights, Dublin City Lights

We can’t see the stars where we are, it’s all light pollution taking up our sky but I never ask why.
The lights are me bread and butter, the ones that guide ya home, make ya feel like you're not alone.
That orange glow on your feet, whether you’re on some street, on your Todd, with a gang, or with some bird you wanna bang.
The lights will never leave ya or mischief ya. They're more honest than you and I and that’s not a question to ask why? Day or night
Under these Dublin City Lights.

(Chorus repeat)

The cities not awake yet, no one’s on the take yet,
Junkies are still sleepin', no cars beepin'
No panic to catch teh bus
Everyone sleeps no fuss
The sky is getting brighter and my eyes are getting wider.
Northsider or Southsider,
Pint bottle of cider,
I’m a Dublin City writer.
The Liffey divides us but the lights still unite us.
Cobble stoned streets, where walked Phil Lynotts feet.
Wilde Joyce and Becket, D’ya know what I mean now ya get it.
Day or night under these Dublin City lights

And when I see those lights I know that I am home.
A flicker in the dark you will always be apart of me my love.

(Chorus Repeat)
